Here are some of the people that we met in Petersburg. We have travelled many places the last years, but we have never met so many people that just tried to make our trip one of the best ever. We hope we will meet many of these people again. Around the table is Erling Husvik, Karen Haltiner, Liv and Heidi, both Erlings daughters. |

We were invited to lunch after church. The pastor celebrated his birthday the same day and people had brought lots of delicious food. | ![]() |

Erling with one of his medals from World
War 2. This is the Purple Heart he got from being wounded
in a running sea battle with the Japanese in the
Philippines. This took place in October 1944.
On the right you can see Fred, Karen Haltiner's husband. He has for many years been a fisherman and now wants to spend more time fishing for fun! He loves fish, and can eat fish twice a day every day! |

This is two Norwegian
journalists, Jørgen and Hedda. They had travelled all
the way from the south end of South America to Alaska
with bus. From Petersburg they continued to the very
north of Alaska. They used one year. We hope to see them
next summer on Helgeland! |
On top to the left you can see Silje
with a girl her age Annika. Annika played baseball in a
big tournament for the whole Alaska in Petersburg when we
were there. Silje enjoyed watching boys and girls playing
for hours. Before we returned home we bought a baseball,
a glove and a bat. A great souvenier! Every Monday a group of women met for lunch and a nice time together. Karen was so nice and invited me and Silje to spend time with them. I really appreciated talking to them, and that they all were so open and shared their thoughts with us. |
